Erasmus Mundus Complete Guide
Published Aug 20, 2026
How Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters work, what the scholarship covers, and how to apply to a consortium without using aggregator shortcuts.
Who this is for
Students applying to an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters who want the consortium scholarship — not a generic “EU scholarship” form sold by aggregators.
How the award actually works
Erasmus Mundus is not one application inbox. Each Joint Masters is run by a consortium of universities. That consortium publishes its own call, deadline, document list and selection rules.
Scholarship holders usually receive a contribution to participation costs, travel and installation support, and a monthly subsistence allowance. Exact figures are printed in that year’s call — never invent them from a blog.
What to do
Start on the official catalogue
Open the Erasmus Mundus catalogue and shortlist programmes by field, mobility track and language of instruction. Save the consortium PDF before you touch any application portal.
Read the consortium call end to end
Confirm who can apply, which campuses you move between, and which documents must be certified or translated. Deadlines are not shared across programmes.
Prepare the shared document pack
Transcripts, degree proof, CV, motivation letter, passport bio page, language scores and references — in the exact format the consortium requests.
Apply to the consortium, not to a generic EU mailbox
Submit only through the portal named in the call. Missing one consortium deadline does not block you from another programme with a later date.
After an offer, follow only consortium enrolment steps
Visas, insurance and campus mobility instructions come from the consortium. Ignore third-party “agents” that ask for fees.
