Chevening Scholarships

Chevening is the UK government’s international scholarships programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and partner organisations. Awards support a one-year taught master’s at a UK university. Scholars must return to their home country for at least two years after the scholarship ends. For the 2027/28 academic year, applications opened on 4 August 2026 and close on 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC. Applicants choose up to three eligible UK courses and must meet work-experience and English-language requirements. Confirm country eligibility and essay guidance only on chevening.org.

• Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country and resident there at application
• Return home for at least two years after the award ends
• Apply to three eligible UK master’s courses; unconditional offer required by the Chevening offer deadline (8 July 2027 for the 2027/28 cycle)
• Undergraduate degree completed at least two years before the application deadline
• Cannot hold British or dual British nationality except where Chevening lists exceptions
• Cannot have previously studied in the UK with UK government funding
